Happy Halloween! err... Columbus Day!

Here it is - over 10 years in the making! - the music video to the annoyingly catchy ditty "Columbus Day." My good friend and collaborator Scott Greene recently came to visit me during the Columbus Day holiday in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, and so we decided it was high time we recorded the song and shot a music video to accompany it. I think you'll agree this is "very scott" and about as dorky and as white as one can possibly get about being upset about the banking situation on Columbus Day.

Interesting note of trivia - Scott sings these words with sincerity and angst because he truly DOES NOT use direct deposit and prefers to hold a paycheck in his hands so he can take it to the bank and hand it off to a teller. Oddly enough, Scott Greene also did work in an "ATM Department" for Chase Bank and found that it was a rather phlegmy experience to boot.

Don't know what to be for Halloween?

This sketch from the funny ladies of MEAT was cut together prior to my working with them, but it's weird enough for me to recommend viewing it at least once. There is also a version that was recorded en espanol by my friend Anthony, which oddly seems to make more sense than this one.

Funny MEAT

As some of you may already know, I have been working as an editor for the all-female sketch comedy troupe MEAT based here in NYC. This particular sketch, while not my favorite of the pieces we've worked on, is a good representation of the women of MEAT playing characters closest to their natural selves. I can't say I agree with all the choices that they wanted to make in the course of cutting this together, but on the whole we were able to create something with a coherent storyline, which was quite a feat considering the source footage.

I'll be posting some more of these as they get posted up on Youtube, but if you're interested in learning more about the funny ladies of MEAT, please check out their website at http://www.funnymeat.com.

Grind House Trailer

The first look at the new film directed by Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez. Always exciting to see whose careers these guys will unearth and revive (i.e. Jeff Fahey & Michael Biehn). This really brings out the geek in me but I must say Grind House looks pretty sick... can't wait 'til it's released! (Spring, 2007)

8 years in a minute

Saw this referred from the Yahoo 9! (which is getting increasingly difficult for me to stomach these days). Anyway, this guy took a picture of himself every day over 8 years and then composited all the picts using After Effects. I mean, I've seen other vids like this but this is pretty exceptional. All we need now is someone who takes a picture every day from birth to their death. Sounds ridiculous, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was already underway...

the evolution of technology has introduced a higher level of game in terms of one's own indiscretions. there is a constant trail being created in the wake of our adventures online, and to think that we do so with relative anonymity or privacy is a joke. For example, a former "friend" of mine recently discovered that his... wait. Is someone there?

BACK

Yes, after the cyberwaves died down for a while, my SPACE has been resurrected! In celebration, I'm posting this picture of my back that Jen Rock took after I had somewhat compulsively and absent-mindedly scratched it. This is something that happens to my back and legs...

MAJOR SHOUTOUT to the good person in Bill Streeter at Lo Fi St. Louis for offering his services in hosting matthewglasson.com. He's done it in the belief that I make some decent videos and can vlogcast and share the love. I intend not to let him down.

And in that spirit, here's a video that my friend Rick Brown just directed for the song "Rocky Top." The guy that's singing is Jason Ellis - another friend of mine who did the original music for my movie, The Family Tie, but that's a story for another time.
